Profit & loss, ageing and stock value
Where: Sales → Profit & loss (/finance/profit-and-loss) · Permission: sales.read and purchasing.read (ageing and stock value need sales.read, purchasing.read, stock.read respectively).
Pick a period (this / last month, quarter, year, or custom dates). The page shows revenue, gross profit and margin, net profit and margin, cash received and paid, a month-by-month table with a total, what customers owe and what you owe vendors by how overdue it is (with the largest balances), and the stock value by item type. Export CSV, Print and Explain with AI are in the header.
How each figure is worked out (this page works straight from your documents; the ledger-based profit and loss is under Accounting & Finance → Financial reports, §56):
- Revenue — invoice subtotals (issued, part-paid, paid) by invoice date, before tax.
- Cost of goods sold — the stock value shipped to customers at moving-average cost.
- Other expenses — vendor bills without a purchase order (services, overheads) by bill date. Bills for purchase orders buy stock, which becomes cost of goods sold when it ships.
- Tax collected and cash received / paid are shown for information; they are not profit.
Invoices and vendor bills are also chartable datasets (invoices, vendor_bills) for dashboards.
